Verisign raises the wholesale fee for .com domains

Kevin N

Verisign will raise its .com fee on November 1, 2026. The fee will go from $10.26 to $10.97 for each year of a new or renewed .com domain. The change starts at 04:00 UTC. That is 12:00 a.m. EDT on November 1, or 9:00 p.m. PDT on October 31.

This is a wholesale fee. It is what Verisign charges registrars. It is not the price every customer will pay.

What is changing?

The fee for each year of a .com registration, renewal, or transfer will rise by $0.71. That is about a 6.9% increase in Verisign’s fee. The new fee does not include other charges, such as ICANN’s variable fee.

Your renewal bill may change by more or less. Verisign does not set the retail price for .com domains. Each registrar sets its own prices.

For example, if a registrar passes on the full $0.71 increase, one added year would cost $0.71 more. Five added years would cost $3.55 more. This is only an example. Your actual bill may be different.

Price changes announced by registrars

Some registrars have shared their own .com price changes:

These are each provider’s own prices, not one set price for every .com renewal. Check your registrar’s current quote and see which fees it includes.

Should you renew early?

Renewing before November 1 may save money. But it depends on your registrar’s price and rules. Check these points first:

Renew early only if your registrar confirms it costs less and you want the extra time. If there is no clear saving, there is no need to rush. Keep auto-renew on if you want to avoid losing the domain, and check the price before the renewal goes through.

The bottom line

Verisign’s .com fee will rise by $0.71 for each year of a domain registration. Your registrar’s price may change by a different amount. Check your renewal price, fees, and deadline. Renew early only if the real savings make sense for you.
